In a bid to bring the COVID-19 situation in Tripura under control, the State government has formed “Corona Crisis Management Groups” and outlines have been set to deal with the situation through the formation of committees from the state level to the village level.
Tripura Chief Secretary – Manoj Kumar, who is also the chairman of the State Executive Committee has issued an order to form committees from state-level to the district level, block-level, and separate committees for ADC, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Urban local body, Panchayat level and village level.
Speaking with Northeast Now, government spokesperson and Law minister Ratan Lal Nath said: “The main goal is to take effective measures to prevent the spread of infection. The committees will review the situation on a daily basis, take necessary measures, and create awareness among the people to fight this pandemic.”
The state-level committee comprises of the chief minister, deputy chief minister, revenue minister, education minister, East and West Tripura MPs, Rajya Sabha MP, chief secretary, secretary of health and family welfare department, Tripura police chief, director, and secretary of revenue.

The responsibilities have been divided among the members of the state cabinet in the district-level committee.
The MLAs of the respective assembly constituencies have been included in each district committee. Besides, the district magistrate, district superintendent of police, district chief health officer, and district education officer are part of the committee.
Similarly, blocks, municipal councils, AMC, panchayats and village-level committees have been formed with local MLAs, village heads, village secretaries, municipal commissioners, and several administrative officers.
“The Tripura government has decided to fight the outbreak in a united manner. We are hopeful that the committees will coordinate and cooperate in dealing with the overall situation,” Nath added.
