The Dimapur district in Nagaland accounts for 61% of Covid19 positive cases in the state.
Nodal officer for Covid-related activities in Dimapur Y Kikheto Sema disclosed this to the state DIPR on Sunday.
Sema underscored the need for urgent need of beds and oxygen as all the available facilities in both government and private hospitals are running short.
“We need to prepare for the worst,” he stated.
Team Dimapur led by Sema and Dimapur commissioner of police Rothihu Tetseo on Sunday visited Olive Hospital Dimapur.

The team lauded the hospital management led by its director Ikheto Sema for hosting all non-Covid patients where all the 70 beds are reported to be full.
However, due to the urgent need of beds for Covid19 patients, Sema requested him to start a makeshift camp at the backyard of the hospital with at least 30 beds by next week.
He directed the district administration to request the Indian Army to set up the makeshift camp at Olive Hospital similar to the ones at Eden Hospital and Faith Hospital.
The team also visited Nikos Hospital during the day.
During interaction with the president of Private Doctors Association Dimapur Dr Vickto Wotsa, Sema appreciated the contributions rendered by the private doctors even during the first wave of the pandemic.
Sema said Dr Wotsa agreed to activate 15 Covid beds at Nikos Hospital by Monday.
The Team Dimapur, with the cooperation of hospitals, has created about 58 Covid beds within four days from May 13. This included 28 Covid beds at Referral Hospital, in addition to its earlier 76 beds and 10 beds each at Zion Hospital, Faith Hospital and Eden Hospital.
By Monday, it is expected to create another 45 Covid beds – 30 at Eden Hospital and 15 at Nikos Hospital.
Sema asked the police department to get 30 Covid beds ready at Police Referral Hospital Chumukedima by next week.
Noting that it has become very difficult to meet the demands for beds and oxygen despite cooperation from all the hospitals in Dimapur, Sema urged the people, who are keeping oxygen in their houses for emergency, to give them on loan to save lives instead of keeping them idle.
Sema, accompanied by Dimapur commissioner of police and other officials, also visited the new Naga cemetery at Zani on Sunday and paid respect to those who succumbed to Covid19.
The team arrived at the time when the 75th victim of Covid19 from Dimapur was brought to the cemetery for burial.
Sema thanked the Naga Council Dimapur for timely establishment of the cemetery stating that the old cemetery here would not be able to accommodate such a huge number of burials.
