Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday advised the deputy commissioners of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts to advance the curfew hours from 2 pm to 12 noon.

Chief minister Sarma made the advice during his visit to upper Assam for taking stock of the Covid19 situation.

Besides Kamrup Metro, the Dibrugarh and Tinsukia are two districts of Assam which have been worst hit by Covid19 in the second wave of the pandemic.

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday visited Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) at Dibrugarh to take stock of the Covid19 situation.

Talking to media persons on Saturday at AMCH, Sarma said, “I have advised the Dibrugarh DC to impose curfew in the district from 12 noon from May 17 with due consultation with eminent citizens and businessmen of the district.”

“The deputy commissioner will take the decision accordingly,” he added.

Earlier on the day, the chief minister visited the district hospital at Tinsukia to take stock of the facilities for Covid19 patients.

He also had a meeting with the Tinsukia deputy commissioner where he advised the latter to carry out at least 500 RT-CPR tests daily, 2,000 screening, strictly maintain containment protocols and advance the curfew by 2 hours.

“I along with Union Min @Rameswar_Teli, Min @SANJOYKISHAN1 & MLAs visited district hospital at Tinsukia to take stock of facilities put in place for #COVID19 patients including ICU beds, oxygen availability etc. I asked doctors to ensure best possible treatment,” the chief minister tweeted.
