Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday presented the Sukapha Award to noted scholar Bimal Barpatra Gohain in a programme held on the occasion of Assam Diwas celebration at historic Tipam in Naharkatia.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the Government is committed to provide a corruption-free system and bring fast development to the State.

“With our commitment to build a strong Assam of Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha’s dream, we have been trying hard to provide a corruption-free system and bring fast development in last one and half years. We have miles to go & we are committed to putting our best efforts,” Sonowal said.

Recalling Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha’s enormous contributions in building a strong and unified Assamese society, the Chief Minister urged people to follow his ideals for a prosperous and peaceful Assam.

The Chief Minister urged teachers to inculcate the vision of the Swargadeo amongst students to make the State one of the best in the nation.

He also stressed on proper utilisation of natural resources available in the State.
