The opposition Congress on Saturday exhorted the BJP-led State government to make its stand clear on the Naga Framework agreement.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, former Congress Minister Pradyut Bordoloi said that the Naga accord is a threat to the territorial integrity of Assam.

“Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal should make his stand clear on the accord. He should gather some courage to question Delhi about the framework agreement,” Bordoloi said.

Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi   said that Congress would not accept the demand of the NSCN-IM for unification of all Naga-inhabited areas, which includes parts of Assam.

“We never approve of the greater Nagalim demand. The Nagalim issue should be settled within the territory of Nagaland,” Gogoi said.

“We want a solution (to the Naga issue) but not at the cost of Assam,” the former Chief Minister reiterated.

Gogoi accused the State government of not putting up a strong case in the Supreme Court which is hearing the inter-State border dispute.
