Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has extensive disinfection measures to tackle the spread of the deadly Covid19 within its jurisdiction.
“NFR has been undertaking special measures on frequent disinfection of railway coaches and premises to check the possibility of spreading of Coronavirus,” said NF Railway chief public relation officer (CPRO) Subhanan Chanda.
“Sanitizing of all critical areas of mass contact in stations and coaches are being done for the safety of rail users,” Chanda said.
NF Railway has set up ‘COVID Help Desk’ at all major stations to provide latest information on Covid protocols.
The works of screening of outgoing railway passengers with thermal devices are being carried out at all stations, the NFR official said.
“Covid testing of incoming passengers are done by state authorities as per the SOP of respective states and NF Railway is providing all necessary help to the state authorities in this regard,” Chanda said.
Sanitizing of through pass and originating trains at various stations is also being done to restrict the spread of corona virus.
Dedicated team for disinfection work has been deployed to carry out this task in all divisions.
“As the running of train services is vital for common people and economy; massive sanitization of the running room, crew lobby, etc. are being done and Covid protocols are being followed strictly to protect on-duty train running officials from getting infected,” Chanda added.
NF Railway is conducting awareness campaigns regularly through various platforms like print, social and electronic media to alert all passengers about the safety protocols to be observed, Chanda said.
“Audio-visual campaign and announcements are being done regularly at all railway station premises on 24×7 basis,” the NFR CPRO said.
