The Special Advisory Council for Myanmar (SAC-M), a human rights group, has urged the United Nations to act immediately.
Saying that Myanmar is in a state of terror and lawlessness, SAC-M has called for the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres to act immediately.
“Myanmar is in a state of terror and lawlessness. The Secretary General must use all the authority vested in his office to pursue ways to stop the killings,” said Chris Sidoti, a founding member of the SAC-M.
The SAC-M has made this request to the United Nations following the on Friday (April 9) crackdown by the ‘unprofessional’ Myanmar military at Bago near Yangon.
As many as 82 unarmed civilians had lost their lives on Friday in indiscriminate firing by the ‘unprofessional’ Myanmar military.
“The soldiers surrounded the area and began firing continuously, shooting at anyone,” SAC-M said.

“They dragged away bodies of those killed and pilled them in a compound of a pagoda. Those injured were denied medical treatment,” added SAC-M.
“Pre-dawn attacks, massacre, piles of bodies, bodies desecrated and evidence destroyed – this is what Tatmadaw (Myanmar army) clearance operation looks like. The junta is on a killing spree, murdering people they are supposed to protect and serve,” said Yanghee Lee, founding member of SAC-M.
The SAC-M has urged the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres to pay a visit to the trouble-torn Myanmar.
“The junta is murdering people by the hour,” SAC-M said.
