West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) has asked the Election Commission (EC) to ‘refrain’ from deploying armed forces in the State from BJP-ruled States.
A delegation of TMC on Monday met Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), West Bengal and made the request.

The TMC made this request to the Election Commission to ‘ensure’ that there is no ‘partisan act’ in the elections by the armed forces.
“Refrain from deploying armed forces from UP, MP, Bihar and any other BJP/NDA ruled states during the second phase of elections in East Midnapore and also for other phases to ensure that there is no partisan act in this election by the armed forces,” the TMC delegation asked CEO, West Bengal.
The TMC delegation that met the West Bengal CEO also alleged that BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari has been ‘harbouring’ criminals who are non-residents of Nandigram at multiple locations in the constituency.

The TMC delegation asked West Bengal CEO: “Direct necessary steps to apprehend all outside criminals harboured by Adhikari.”
“Immediately round up any and all anti-social elements in East Midnapore and take them into preventive custody to ensure a free and fair election,” the TMC delegation asked the West Bengal CEO.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee will take on BJPs heavyweight candidate Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram in East Midnapore district in the second phase of Assembly elections on April 1.
“Those who can’t love culture, can’t do politics here. Nandigram witnessing hooliganism. We did meeting in Birulia, TMC office destroyed. He’s (Suvendu Adhikari) doing whatever he wants. I can play games too. I too will respond like lion. I’m Royal Bengal tiger,” said West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram on Monday.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had sustained injuries on the evening of March 10 at Nandigram, the same day she filed her nomination from the constituency.

Mamata Banerjee and her party – the TMC, have been alleging that it was a deliberate attack and a conspiracy to kill her.
“They attacked me. No one from Nandigram attacked me but you brought goons from UP, Bihar. We want a free and fair election. If they come, women should beat them up with utensils,” added West Bengal CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram on Monday.
