Congress leader and former president of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Rahul Gandhi on Saturday released the manifesto for the ensuing Assam Assembly election 2021.
The election manifesto of the Congress for Assam was released at a function organized at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati, the state headquarters of the party.
The election manifesto releasing event was attended by Congress’ Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora, Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi, Nagaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi, All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev, APCC media department chief Bobbeeta Sharma and other party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Gandhi said, “We are aware that the RSS and BJP are attacking the diverse cultures of the nation.”
“They are attacking our language, history, our way of thinking and the way of living. This manifesto is about protecting the idea of Assam, the culture of Assam and its identity which the BJP-RSS is trying to finish,” he said.
He said the manifesto has been prepared after discussions with all sections of people from Assam.
Rahul Gandhi has been in Assam since Friday with a two-day election campaign for the ensuing Assembly election in Assam.
The election manifesto of the Congress also includes the party’s five guarantees – law against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), five lakh government jobs, Rs 365 daily wage for tea garden workers, free electricity up to 200 units and Rs 2,000 for housewives if the party comes to power.
