Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that his party if voted to power in Assam, would recruit special teachers to teach Sadri language in tea garden schools.
Gandhi while addressing a poll rally at Chabua, said, “We will recruit special teachers to teach Sadri language and a ministry will be set up for the tea tribe people of Assam.”
The Congress leader came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi government for failing to fullfill the promises made to the people of Assam in the last five years.
Gandhi was campaigning for Congress candidate from Chabua, Ajay Phukan.
“Narendra Modi launched ‘Make in India’ and ‘Startup India’ but there is no product of India and Assam, markets area flooded with Chinese products. But we want to see Assam’s products,” Gandhi said.
“We will arrange free coaching for competitive exams for tea tribe youths. We will also give employment to five lakh unemployed youths,” he said.
Earlier in the day, the senior Congress leader asserted that his party, if voted to power, will ensure that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is not implemented in the state.
Affirming that no religion teaches enmity, Gandhi, during his interaction with college students in Dibrugarh district, said the BJP was “selling hatred to create divisions among people”.
Gandhi, who is in Assam on a two-day visit, is scheduled to release the party’s manifesto on Saturday.
