In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles seized 122 gm of heroin at Zote village in Champhai district.
The Assam Rifles troops also apprehended a woman drug peddler from Zote village along the Mizoram-Myanmar border on Monday, an official of Assam Rifles said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Assam Rifles and state excise and narcotics department intercepted the accused and checked her and recovered the consignment of heroin.
The contraband was concealed in 10 soap cases, the Assam Rifles official said.
It is estimated that the contraband would cost Rs 48 lakh in the local market and the accused was handed over to the excise and narcotics department, the official added.
Earlier in a joint operation on Saturday, carried out by Assam Rifles and excise & narcotics department in Mizoram, resulted in the apprehension of a drug peddler and recovery of contraband from Aizawl.
