The Election Commission of India (ECI) will begin its Assam visit on Monday (January 18) to review the poll preparedness for the upcoming State Assembly polls 2021.

The Commission will wrap up its visit on January 20, 2021.

Informing this, the deputy secretary to the election department of Assam in a press statement said the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Sunil Arora, Election Commissioners of India Sushil Chandra and Rajiv Kumar will arrive in Assam on Monday.

They will be accompanied by Dharmendra Sharma, the director general of ECI, Chandra Bhushan Kumar, deputy election commissioner, ECI, Sheyphali B. Sharan, additional director general, PIB & spokesperson, ECI and other senior officials of ECI.

The Election Commission will hold meetings with chief electoral officer and police nodal officer, political parties, election-related regulatory agencies and district election officers.

The ECI team will also have meetings with the superintendents of police and chief secretary, home secretary, director general of police and other senior officials at Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati, the statement said.

The Election Commission will hold a press conference at Radisson Blu Hotel to share the details about the poll preparedness in Assam.

The Commission will depart from Guwahati on January 20, 2021, the deputy secretary said.
