Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive at Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh on Saturday.
AMCH principal Dr Sanjeev Kakoti, vice-principal Dr Rupak Kumar Gogoi, superintendent Prasanta Dihingia, AMCH physicians Dr Hem Chandra Kalita, AMCH retired professors Dr Girindra Nath Gogoi, Dr Rama Pd. Medhi and Dr Shantanu Lahkar were among the first 100 health professionals who took the vaccine on Saturday.
Vaccination also started at Barbaruah Block PHC in Dibrugarh.

A total of 12 doctors got their first shot of vaccine at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the presence of health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Dr Umesh Chandra Sarma, retired vice-chancellor of Srimanta Sankardev University of Health Sciences received the first dose of the vaccine at the GMCH.
Sarma on Friday had said that nearly 1.9 lakh COVID warriors will be covered in the first phase and they will be followed by one lakh frontline workers in the second stage.
As many as 8,651 vaccinators have been trained who will be supervised by 1,300 trained personnel.
