The Apex India Foundation has honoured the Oil India Limited (OIL) with Platinum Award and Gold Award.

The Platinum Award has been conferred under Livelihood Creation for Project OIL Jeevika in the Petroleum Exploration Sector and the Gold Award under Woman Empowerment for Project OIL Arogya in the Petroleum Exploration Sector.

The Apex India Foundation CSR Excellence Awards 2019 were presented during a virtual award ceremony held recently at a hotel in New Delhi.

The programme in the national capital was graced by human rights activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, Laghu Udyog Bharti’s national president Baldev Bhai G. Prajapati, editor of Environmental Weekly Sanjaya K. Mishra, defence expert Major General (retired) PK Saighal, and Apex India Foundation president Kuldeep Singh.

The award was ceremoniously handed over to Dilip Kumar Das, resident chief executive, field headquarters at Duliajan by the CSR team of OIL, headed by Trideeb Saikia, general manager (public affairs).

OIL Jeevika is Northeast India’s 1st induced community-cluster based sustainable rural livelihood project.

The project aims at providing backward and forward linkages to the targeted beneficiaries on two economic activities namely, beekeeping and honey processing, and mustard, buckwheat and local pulses processing.

OIL Jeevika focusses on enhancing the production and marketing skills of the beneficiaries through robust in-field training, exposure visits, scientific & material inputs while also focussing on value-added production from honey, mustard, buckwheat and local pulses.

OIL Arogya aims at reduction of IMR and MMR in OIL’s operational areas.

The project currently includes pre and post-natal health check-ups, sensitizing women on maternal, child health and benefits of institutional delivery, tracking and counselling of pregnant women, immunization of babies and pregnant women.

The project also includes training and awareness on first aid, nutrition, community health for better health and hygiene, sanitation and family planning with focus on menstrual health and hygiene management.
