Foundation stone for a life-size statue of Koch king Dharma Narayan has been laid at Mangaldoi in Assam.

The foundation stone was laid by Deputy Commissioner of Darrang – Dilip Kumar Borah on Sunday.

The statue Koch king Dharma Narayan will come up along the banks of historical Borpukhuri in Mangaldoi.

The statue will be 15 feet high, and will weigh around 1 tonne.

The construction of the statue will be financed by a local business establishment Debsons’ and Company.

The statue will be constructed under the supervision of renowned artist and sculptor Biren Singha.

The foundation laying ceremony was attended by many including veteran academician and scholar Dr Nagendra Nath Sharma and distinguished writer Idris Ali.

Chairman of Mangaldai Development Authority – Pratap Bordoloi, former minister – Basanta Das and former MP Madhab Rajbongshi were also present during the foundation laying ceremony.
