An Assam Congress delegation visited the disputed border of Assam-Nagaland in Karbi Anglong district on Saturday.
After visiting the border, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) delegation said the ruling BJP does not give due interest to the inter-state border problem.
Criticising the attitude of the BJP on the inter-state border issue, APCC secretary and Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi said, “There are border problems with Nagaland in Karbi Anglong and Mariani in Assam. But the BJP does not give any interest on the issue.”
“The BJP concentrates only on winning Council, Assembly and parliamentary elections and form the government. The BJP leaders want to become the Chief Executive Member and Ministers to become wealthier,” Nath said.
“Whereas, the Nagas may be of different tribes but they are always united. In Assam and in Karbi Anglong there are Terang, Rongpi, Engti, Timung and Teron, who cannot get united. The BJP is dividing us in such a way,” he added.
The Karbi Anglong district in Assam has border with Nagaland while the West Karbi Anglong district has border with Meghalaya.
Both the districts have border disputes with the neighbouring states.
The Assam Congress delegation comprised Assam Pradesh Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Debdrata Saikia, APCC general secretary Rupjoyti Kurmi along with the Karbi Anglong Congress Committee, vice presidents Raton Engti, Pradip Singnar.
The delegation also comprised Ratul Teron, general secretary, KADCC and APCC spokesperson Dr Mongve Rongpi, general secretary Daniel Engti, president, Lumbajong Mandal Congress Committee, Rangsina Hanse and their colleagues.
