A huge cache of ammunition and dismantled firearms were recovered from the 15934- Amritsar-Dibrugarh Weekly Express on Monday evening.

According to police, 264 live bullets (including 147 cartridges of AK series rifle), one AK-47 rifle, one Self Loading Rifle, one .9 mm pistol and a country made pistol were recovered from a coach of Amritsar-Dibrugarh Weekly Express. All the firearms were in dismantled condition. Thirteen empty cartridges were also recovered from the coach.

According to railway officials, the train had arrived from Amritsar at the Dibrugarh railway station at Banipur at 5 pm. Later at around 8 pm when the cleaning staffs were cleaning the compartments, they noticed two abandoned bags under a seat of a general coach. Following the discovery, the Railway Protection Force and police were informed who later recovered the fire arms. Police started started an investigation into the incident.
