Dibrugarh in Assam gets the first hospital exclusively for treating cows in the Northeast on the occasion of Gopashtami on Sunday.

The new hospital situated in the campus of the Gopal Goshala in Dibrugarh town, was inaugurated by social activist, Sunil Agarwalla.

Gopashtami is celebrated to mark the occasion when Lord Krishna became a skilled cowherd.

Nirmal Beria, president of the Gopal Goshala said, “This will be the first cow hospital in the Northeast. The hospital is equipped with treatment as well as surgery facilities.”

He said the Goshala was opened to serve the hapless cows.

“We have a committee, which takes care of every activity in the Goshala,” he said.

The goshala shelters 368 cows, bulls and calves.
