India has witnessed a 50 per cent jump in positive Covid-19 cases during the past two days.
45,576 new coronavirus cases were reported across the country on Thursday, said a report of the Union health ministry.
The total number of such cases has reached 89,58,483 in the country.
While the country reported 38,616 new cases on Wednesday, 29,154 new cases were detected on Tuesday.

On the other hand, 585 fatalities were reported from across the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 1,31,578.
The health ministry said a 24 per cent rise in fatalities has been recorded since Wednesday when 449 deaths were reported.
The number of active cases in the country is 4,43,303, while 83,83,602 people have recovered from the disease so far.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) attributed this alarming spike in positive cases to an increase in testing.
Health experts had earlier warned that positive cases could spike during the festival season when many people became lenient in adhering to Covid-19 protocols.
Transmission of the virus is also likely to accelerate in winter, warned experts.
