Assam chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday said that his government took special initiatives to usher in development in different districts of the state.

He was in Bongaigaon on Friday to lay the foundation stone of six new projects under the City Infrastructure Development Fund (CIDF).

The chief minister said, “The previous government took no initiative for the empowerment of the far-flung areas of the state.”

“Our government took special initiatives for the development of Bongaion and the other seventeen districts under CIDF,” he added.

The projects include the development of an ecological park and its adjacent water bodies, a museum on Koch Rajbongshis, beautification of the immersion ghat and construction of a bus terminal and clock tower..

Sonowal also distributed tractors and power tillers to the beneficiaries under the “Chief Minister’s Sammagra Grammya Unnayan Yojana”.

He also distributed kits under “PM CARES” to persons who came back to the state during the Covid-19 induced lockdown.

He also called upon the people and the media to keep a watch on his government’s performance and cooperate with it to accelerate development in the state.

A report of “Project Milijuli”, a comprehensive Covid-19 community management initiative of the Bongaigaon district administration was released on the occasion.

The logo of “Mission Sampoorna”, a district administration initiative to make Bongaigaon free from malnutrition was also unveiled.
