Timothy D Shira, NPP candidate from Resubelpara, had a providential escape in a road accident on the eve of the Meghalaya Assembly polls result day, at Chotipara in Assam’s Goalpara district.
The accident took place at around 3 pm in the afternoon. Police sources said that the accident occurred when the vehicle in which D Shira was travelling in turned turtle after an animal blocked their path.

“The vehicle lost control due to which it turned upside down. However the locals helped them to get out of the vehicle safely after which they resumed their journey,” said a police official.
“By the grace of god, none of us was injured in the mishap,” said an associate of who was also in the vehicle with Shira.
