A team of police launched search operations in two different locations under Runikhata police station.

Chirang police in pre-dawn search operations on Thursday recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in western Assam’s Chirang district.

Acting on an intelligence input, a team of police led by the Chirang additional superintendent of police (ASP) launched search operations in two different locations under the Runikhata police station of the district.

“During the operations at Ranipur and Amlaiguri under Runikhata Police station, police recovered the arms and ammunition,” said a police official.

The official said one AK series rifle along with two magazines, 50 rounds of live ammunition of 7.62 mm pistol and one pen pistol were recovered from Ranipur in the first operation.

“In a separate operation, one 9 mm carbine with magazines, seven 9 mm pistols with magazines, two Chinese hand grenades and 25 rounds of live ammunition were seized from Amlaiguri,” he said.
