Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, reacting to Congress MLA Sherman Ali Ahmedโ€™s proposal to construct a โ€˜Miya Museumโ€™ at Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati, said that โ€œthere is no separate identity-and culture in Char Anchal of Assam.โ€

โ€œObviously, in Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakhetra, which is the epitome of Assamese culture, we will not allow any distortion. Sorry MLA Sahab,โ€ the tweet added.

It may be mentioned here that the Baghbar MLA had proposed the Assam government to set-up a Miya Museum at Sankardeva Kalakshetra to highlight the culture and heritage of the Miya community- who most resides in the char-chapori (sandbar) areas of the state.
