The Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) organized the first Public Relations (PR) symposium in association with Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Guwahati Chapter in a virtual way on Friday.

The symposium on Public Relations was based on the theme “Challenges of PR Professionals in NE Region”.

The programme started with the welcome address by Jayanta Kumar Baruah, Chief Manager (HR).

The keynote address was presented by Asit Das, General Manager (HR).

During his address Reep Hazarika, Managing Director BCPL said that this programme is expected to address the subject with participation of experts from various domain and PR professionals of various organizations.

Highlighting on the aspects of communication, speaker Sanjeeb Kakoty, Associate Professor, IIM Shillong spoke on the importance of transparency in communication.

Speaking on the challenges faced by PR professionals in the North East region Sachin Gogoi, Editorial Lead of BBC News, New Delhi deliberated on the pertinent issues faced by media and PR professionals while handling crisis communication and how an organization should share the information about the company reinstating the company’s core values.

Senior journalist Ron Duarah emphasised on the proper communication channels between the media and corporate.

Madhuchanda Adhikari, DGM (CC) NRL and Chairperson PRSI moderated the entire session.

She also described the task of the PR department in disseminating news and at the same time maintaining a balance of the news from the source to the recipient.

The programme was attended by PR professionals of various government and non-government organizations, students from various media institutes, PRSI members and senior officials of BCPL.
