With the detection of 1,427 new COVID19 cases and 4 more deaths in the last 24 hours, Assam’s total positive tally increased to 1,98,213 and the death toll mounted to 834.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanata Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on COVID19 said the new cases have been detected out of 139,868 tests.

“Alert ~ 1427 #COVID cases detected out of 139,868 tests performed. Proud moment as #Assam performs more than 1 lakh tests for 3rd consecutive day,” Sarma tweeted.

Assam’s COVID19 positivity rate stood at 1.02% on Wednesday.

The health minister said 84.28% of the positive patients registered in Assam so far have recovered from the disease.

Assam currently has a total of 30,320 active cases, which is 15.29% of the total cases.

Assam’s death rate stands at 0.04%, according to the data shared by the health minister.

On Wednesday, 4 more positive patients died of COVID19 infection.

“Deeply saddened to share the demise of four #Covid patients,” health minister Sarma said in another tweet.

The deceased have been identified as Bikram Newar (44) of Dibrugarh; Harakanta Doley (56) of Dhemaji; Tapan Chakraborty (74) of Jorhat and Bhaben Chandra Das (97) of Biswanath.

“Condolences to bereaved families and friends,” said Sarma.
