With a view to encourage Mizoram students to join central government services and other state services, the Mizoram Government on Wednesday has decided to dole out cash incentives to students who successfully clear competitive examinations under the central and state governments.

This was announced by the newly appointed Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) chairman, Joseph Lalhimpuia during a media interaction in Aizawl on Wednesday.

Lalhlimpuia announced that the State Government will give a cash incentive of Rs 50,000 to any candidate from Mizoram who clear civil service (prelims), combined medical services examination, Indian engineering services examination and other services and also Rs 1 lakh to those who successfully clear civil service (main) examination, combined defence services examination, NDA and NA examinations.

He further added that Rs 30 lakh and Rs 80 lakh have been allocated under revised estimate and new economic development policy (NEDP) respectively for the purpose.

Lalhlimpuia also announced that IIT-JEE/NEET coaching class centres will be opened in Aizawl (for northern Mizoram zone) and Lunglei (southern Mizoram zone) for interested students.

The new centres will be collaborated with the already opened coaching centre in Aizawl and the government will meet 75 per cent of the expenses.

He further informed that youth summit cum road show will be organized in all district headquarters during this year to encourage and help create awareness among students about various competitive examinations.

For Aizawl district, the event will be held on March 22 and 23.

Lalhlimpuia also said that International English Language Testing System (IELTS) coaching class will be opened in Aizawl from March 12 for B Sc/GNM nursing students and one month crash course coaching will also be started from March 10 next for those who will take the State bank of India (SBI) assistant grade examination, 2018.
