Now onwards, no private agency will be given the responsibility of conducting written tests for posts under the Assam government.
The decision was taken by the Assam Cabinet in its meeting, chaired by chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday.
The decision comes after the leakage of the question paper of the written examination for recruiting sub-inspectors in Assam Police unfolded a bigger scam in the recruitment process.
After the Cabinet meeting held at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Khanapara, Assam parliamentary affairs minister Chandra Mohan Patowary told the media over the decision of the Cabinet.
He said, “From today onwards, the system to give responsibility to private agencies for conducting written tests for recruitment in the Assam government department is over. Now any university in the state or the department itself will be able to conduct the recruitment tests.”
The State Cabinet on Wednesday decided that Bodo would be the associate official language in Assam.
The Cabinet also decided to hold the BTC election in December.
Besides, the State Cabinet also cleared the ordinance to create Bodo Kachari Autonomous Welfare Council outside the 6th Schedule area for the welfare of the Bodo community.
It has been decided to use the Assamese language in the signboards in areas under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) apart from Bodo and English.
The Cabinet decided to increase the number of members in the development councils from a minimum of 25 to 45.
It has been decided that the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) may have more women members if required.
According to another decision of the Cabinet, the state government will bear the costs of day boarding, morning meal, mid-day meal and school uniform for students of 428 tea gardens in Assam.
The State Cabinet cleared the formation of two forest range offices and four zonal offices in Majuli district.
The recognized Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the Kanaklata Women Empowerment Achoni will now get financial assistance of Rs 50,000 instead of Rs 25,000.
The Cabinet also decided to upgrade the rank of the Advocate General to Cabinet rank.
