Aranyam Bora, a 22-year-old boy from Assam, died after jumping off cliffs at Mactaquac Headpond in Canada.
Aranyam disappeared on Wednesday afternoon while cliff diving and his body was discovered by Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) divers on Thursday.
Bora was a fourth-year student at St. Thomas University, located at Fredericton, New Brunswick, with major in political science and international relations.
According to sources, Aranyam Bora, also known as Ary Bora, was from Guwahati.
He went to New Brunswick for higher studies and lives at Fredericton.
A media report quoted Milly Squires, a McAdam native and third-year student of St. Thomas University as saying that Aranyam was a competitive bodybuilder and martial artist and was in incredible physical condition.
Squires said Bora told her that he was going cliff diving at the headpond, about 20 km west of Fredericton, with a friend on Wednesday.
She informed that he was a bit of daredevil and had previously talked about jumping off bridges.
Squires said she started worrying when several text messages to him went unanswered.
On Thursday, she contacted the friend, who was with Bora at Mactaquac, the day before and heard what had happened.
Bora’s body was fished out by RCMP divers just before noon on Thursday.
“He was wonderful … kind, caring, so compassionate. He loved life. He loved his family so much. He loved India and he loved just making people smile,” the report quoted Squires as saying.
She said she had has spoken to the friend who was with Bora.
She informed that the woman used his phone to film his cliff diving for his Instagram account.
Squires hoped the footage would help determine what happened to Bora.
The report quoted RCMP as saying that a witness jumped in to try to help but was unsuccessful and he went under and didn’t resurface.
