Three members of a family, including a child, were killed and another child injured at Nadhiapara in Lower Assam’s Boko when the Maruti WagonR vehicle in which they were travelling was hit by a train at a railway crossing on Sunday evening.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Jalil, his wife Saniya Begum and their daughter Afreen Akhtar.
Their four year-old-daughter—Jannat Akhtar—was injured and admitted to a hospital.
The family hailed from Hatikhola under Chaygaon police station in Kamrup district.
Police said when the vehicle carrying Abdul Jalil and his wife and their two daughters crossing the track, the train bound for Bongaigaon mowed down it.
Jalial, who worked as a teacher at FM College, were headed towards his home with his family members.
