Nagaland’s Covid-19 positive tally jumped to 5,375 with the detection of 51 new cases today.

Among the new cases, 23 are from Kohima, 20 from Dimapur, four from Mokokchung, two from Mon and one each from Peren and Tuensang.

The detected cases consisted 24 from traced contacts, 17 from armed forces, nine returnees and one is frontline worker.

Altogether 29 cases recovered today. Among them, 14 are from Dimapur, eight from Kohima and seven from Mon.

The State now has 1,213 active cases and 4,108 people have recovered from the infection.

Ten persons have died of the virus so far while five other deaths were not Covid-19 related. Twenty-one patients migrated to other states, sources said.

Meanwhile, insomnia, anxiety and depression have gripped a sizeable section of the people of the State during the pandemic, a survey conducted by the state Health and Family Welfare department recently said.

Principal director, health and family welfare department, Dr Vizolie Z Suokhrie said the online mental health and psychosocial wellbeing survey was conducted between June 12 and July. He said the objective of the survey, where any person from the State  above the age of 16 years participated, was to assess the prevalence of insomnia, anxiety, depression and somatization (anxiety leading to physical pain).
