East of Kathmandu in Nepal was jolted by an earthquake of magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale on Wednesday morning, the National Seismological Centre said.
“An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale hit 50 km east of Kathmandu in Nepal at 05:04:07 IST today,” NCS said.

It may be mentioned here that on April 25, 2015, nearly 9,000 people were and injured nearly 22,000 when an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale struck the nation.
Its epicentre was east of Gorkha District at Barpak, Gorkha, and its hypocenter was at a depth of approximately 8.2 km (5.1 mi).
It was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake.
