In their continued efforts to curb the anti-social activities along the Indo-Bhutan border, the troopers of 37 Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), BOP Bangurum have been able to recover a huge consignment of illegal timbers along with a number of bicycles used to be carried those timbers.

According to information, during a routine patrolling, the troopers of 37 Battalion of SSB, BOP Bangurum recovered the consignment of illegal timbers which included 20 numbers of wooden planks, 13 numbers of battens and seven bi-cycles near Bhola river under Harisinga Police Station in Udalguri on Monday.

“The timber smugglers sensing trouble managed to flee the scene. The seized materials have been handed over to the forest office at Nonaikhuti. The market value of the recovered items has been estimated at approximately Rs 65,000,” said sources.

It may be mentioned that the SSB personnel, deployed in different parts of Assam along the Indo-Bhutan international border, apart from guarding the border have also been carrying out operations to prevent anti-social activities along the border areas.

The SSB personnel from various Battalions from time to time reportedly seize illegal sawmills along the international border. They have also been reportedly successful in apprehending many culprits for being involved in various illegal activities.
