Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein has asked the Border Road Organisation (BRO) to finalise the detailed project report (DPR) for the two-laning of road from Chowkham Tri-junction in Namsai district to Brahmakhund (Parasuramkhund) in Lohit.

Addressing a virtual meeting at Itanagar on Wednesday to discuss the implementation of the road project, Mein asked the deputy commissioners of Lohit and Namsai to carry out the land acquisition process at the earliest.

“The land acquisition process should be carried out smoothly as soon as the DPR is finalized. Also all related tenders should be floated before the start of the working season so that the project can be carried out in time,” he said.

The deputy chief minister said: “A vast and rapid development of road network is taking place in the state.”

Citing examples of ongoing road projects such as the construction of two-lane roads from Roing to Anini, Tohangam to Hayuliang, Manmao to Changlang, Hukanjuri to Khonsa and Potin to Pangin, etc, Mein said: “The surface communication of Arunachal would greatly improve after these roads are completed.”

Commander of the Demwe-based 48 BRTF, Saurabh Srivastava, informed that the land survey has been completed for the said portion of the road and the DPR will be made purely on the guidelines of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Apart from the discussion on the road project, chief secretary Naresh Kumar informed that the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is ready for funding the establishment of incense stick (agarbatti) making industry in Namsai and Lohit districts and also assured buyback of the products.

Among others, planning commissioner P S Lokhande, Lohit DC Prince Dhawan, Namsai DC R K Sharma, Land Management secretary in-charge Hage Tarin and State Remote Sensing Application Centre director H K Dutta attended the online meeting.
