Fresh clashes were reported at Pangong Tso, Eastern Ladakh, Indian Army officials said, adding that the incident occurred at the southern end of Pangong Tso on the night of August 29 and 30.

Chinese troops violated the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo.

Earlier, describing the situation in Ladakh as serious, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had said that the situation is ‘most serious’ after the 1962 conflict.

Jaishankar had said that the number of security forces currently deployed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) from both sides is also ‘unprecedented’.
