Tanjim Siam, a Bangladeshi youth who was shot during an armed robbery in Roxbury neighbourhood of Boston, has died.
23-year-old Siam, who was seriously injured in the attack, died on Saturday after fighting for his life for 40 days.
On July 14, Siam, who was a staff member of M&R convenience store located at Shawmut Avenue, was shot in the head during an armed robbery at the store.
With aspirations to go to college, he immigrated to the United States from Bangladesh earlier this year with a hope of a better future for him and his family members, reports Boston25 News.
“He came here, in America, for the dream and that was stolen from him,” said Humayun Morshed, of Boston Convenience Store Association.
On August 7, Stephon Samuel, 25, was arrested in connection with the shooting.
He was charged with armed robbery by means of a firearm, armed assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and armed career criminal level one.
