The Kokrajhar superintendent of police (SP), Rakesh Roushan and his family tested positive for COVID19 on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Uttam Kumar Brahma, the district programme manager (DPM) of NHM, Kokrajhar, tested positive for COVID19 on Saturday.

The news has been confirmed by Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Bhaskar Phukan.

A total of 31 new COVID19 positive cases have been detected in Kokrajhar district on Sunday.

Talking to Northeast Now, Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Phukan said: “Kokrajhar SP, Rakesh Roushan and his family tested COVID19 positive today.”

“National corona warrior award winner from Kokrajhar district, Uttam Kumar Brahma, who is the district programme manager (DPM) of NHM, tested COVID19 positive yesterday,” the DC said, adding, “Now he is undergoing treatment at Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital in Kokrajhar.”

The DC said, “As on August 22, out of 853 samples tested, 31 have been found positive. All the infected patients have been shifted to COVID19 care centres and isolation wards in the district.”

Phukan said till Sunday, Kokrajhar district has registered a total of 1,239 positive cases so far.

He informed that the health conditions of Kokrajhar’s two additional deputy commissioners, Bhaskar Das and Dhibeswar Bora, who tested positive earlier, are improving.
