Maharashtra police, in the last 24 hours, recorded 303 fresh COVID-19 cases making it the highest single-day spike the force has seen.
Moreover, four policemen succumbed to the virus on Thursday. Three of them were from Mumbai.
With the new cases, the total number of infected policemen in the state has reached to 13,180.
While 10,655 have recovered so far, however, there are 2,389 policemen who are active patients and they are being treated at various medical facilities.
The deceased policemen have been identified as Ravikant Salunkhe (52), Vishwanath Tambe (54), Vinayak Babar (35), and Shrikant Wagh.
On Friday morning, the state police headquarters received news about the death of head constable Gajendra Kamble.
Kamble, who was from Rasayni police station of Raigad district, died of COVID-19 on August 19.
