An employee of Punjab National Bank’s Torajan branch was arrested for fraud on Monday.

A police source said that the employee, identified as Lakhi Nath Bora has been arrested and charged under Sections 406 and 420 of IPC.

A case (number 1664/20) has been registered against him at the Jorhat police station.

The police source said that Bora had been given two cheques of Rs 20000 each to make two drafts by a customer of the bank Nabajyoti Dutta of Choladhora.

The complainant Dutta in the FIR had alleged that Bora had reportedly made one draft of Rs 20000 and the amount of the second cheque he had allegedly transferred into his own account, the police source said.

Bora, who served as peon in the bank, was supposed to retire after six months.
