Two more persons have reportedly died of COVID-19 in Darrang district over the last forty-eight hours.

According to a statement of the district health department on Sunday evening, the victims have been identified as Abdul Wadud (58)- a resident of No 2 Galandi village under Kharupetia Block PHC and Dilip Bhagawati (53) of village Sarabari Deodhanighat in Sipajhar.

Wadud died on Friday while on way to GMCH, while Bhagawati died at GMCH on Saturday night during treatment.

Earlier, both of them were admitted to the isolation ward of Mangldai Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, the district has recorded nineteen new cases of COVID positive on Sunday, taking the overall tally to beyond two thousand (2111).

Till the filing of the report, 1401 have recovered and are discharged from different hospitals and COVID Care Centres.
