Keeping in view of the Independence Day celebration, the movement of people will be allowed on August 15 from 6 am to 5 pm.

This has been announced by Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna in an order issued on Thursday.
However, the people will have to maintain all COVID19 protocols.
The citizens will have to maintain social distancing, wear face cover in all public places all the times.

“In view of celebration of Independence Day, 2020, movement of individuals shall be allowed between 6 AM and 5 PM on 15th August, 2020, subject to maintenance of all COVID 19 protocols including social distancing, hand hygiene and wearing of face cover in all public places at all times,” chief secretary Krishna said in the order.

In an earlier order issued on the same day, chief secretary Krishna allowed several activities from August 16-31.

After considering Assam’s COVID situation and taking into consideration the latest directives issued by the Union Home Ministry on July 29, some modifications have been brought to the order No. ASDMA.24/2020/Part-1/96, issued on August 2, 2020, Krishna said.

This order shall come into force with effect from 5 AM of August 16, 2020 and remain valid till 9:30 PM of August 31, 2020, the chief secretary said.

“All permitted activities mentioned in our earlier orders shall continue to be allowed between 5 AM and 9:00 PM between Monday and Friday,” the order said.

Restriction of one side of the street is withdrawn, the order said.

“Inter-district movement of passenger vehicles and people are allowed between Monday and Friday only. Inter-district movement of vehicles is allowed with 50% capacity,” said the order.

City buses are allowed, subject to maintenance of all COVID19 protocols and social distancing with 50% capacity.

Public transport is allowed, subject to maintenance of all COVID19 protocols and social distancing with 50% capacity.

“Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited between 9:30 PM and 5 AM,” said the order.

Spitting in public places, consumption of tobacco and liquor products shall be strictly prohibited.

Social/political/sports/entertainment/academic/religious functions and other large congregations numbering more than 50 persons shall remain prohibited, the chief secretary said in the order.

“Cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places of public gathering shall remain dosed,” the order said.

No activities are allowed in Containment Zones and entry and exit from such zones are strictly prohibited.

“No movement of individuals shall be allowed on Saturday and Sunday at any time all over the state,” said the order.

“Persons above 65 years of age and children below the age of ten years are advised to stay indoors except for unavoidable health reasons,” it added.
“Wearing of face cover is compulsory in public places, in work place and public transport. Violation will attract a fine of Rs 1,000 for the offence,” the order further said.
