Manipur reported one more Covid-19 fatality on Thursday, taking the death toll due to the disease to 13 in the state, and 91 new cases of the infection.
The total death toll relating to COVID -19 increased to 13 after a man succumbed to the disease at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal, Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, spokesperson of the state health department said in statement.
“Today, a male aged 37 from Imphal West with history of hypertension expired at RIMS due to COVID 19,” he said.
“The cumulative number of deaths is 13,” he added.
Eighty-sevnen persons ‘without any significant travel history’ among 91 locals from the general population, were tested positive for COVID 19.
On the other hand 39 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were also tested positive for COVID-19.
They are from Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur and Senapati.
“Only four from Churachandpur out of the general population are returnees from other states and the rest 87 are locals without any significant travel history,” the release said.
They are being shifted to the covid care facilities.
In the past 24 hours, 64 persons were discharged from RIMS, covid care centres of Meitram, Kakching, Kamjong and Phungyar after finding COVID19 free on the RT PCR test, it said.
With day’s 130 new cases, the cumulative number of positive cases for COVID 19 in Manipur has reached 4,112 while the total number of discharged cases is 2,295,it said.
The number of active cases is 1,804 including 763 CAPF personnel, it said. The recovery rate is 55.81 percent.
