With the demise of 5 more positive patients due to COVID19 infections in Assam, the state’s death toll increased to 145 on Sunday.
Sharing the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Sunday said the COVID19 victims are from Kamrup Rural, Morigaon, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts.
“Five more #COVID patients have succumbed to their infections today,” Sarma tweeted.
Sarma said the COVID19 victims have been identified as 66-year-old Rafiq Ali and 90-year-old Mahendra Deka from Kamrup Rural district; 60-year-old Ramapati Devi from Morigaon district; 32-year-old Gobinda Das from Tinsukia district and 47-year-old Rijumoni Gohain from Dibrugarh district.
The health minister has expressed condolences at the demise of the positive patients and prayed for the departed souls.
Assam so far has registered 57,714 COVID19 positive cases.
A total of 40,591 patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from various hospitals or Covid Care Centres after they tested negative.
With the death of 5 more positive patients, the active cases in Assam stand at 16,975 while 3 positive cases migrated from the state.
