Several Assembly Constituencies in Manipur continue to lift their allocated PDS (Public Distribution System) rice from certain godowns located at different parts of the State.
In Imphal East District, Kshetrigao AC on Monday completely lifted its allocated 1,812.80 quintal of rice under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY).
With Monday’s lifting, all the ACs in the district had completed lifting of their PMGKAY rice allocated for July.
Tadubi AC of Senapati District lifted 3,683.95 quintal of rice under PMGKAY, allocated for the month of July.
The AC also, on August 1, lifted 1,892.75 quintal of PMGKAY rice and 1,980.95 quintal of rice under National Food Security Act (NFSA), both allocated for August, 2020.
Meanwhile in Imphal West District, there was distribution of 139 quintal of rice to 2,778 migrant workers on Monday.
Chingai AC of Ukhrul District had also completed lifting of its allocated quota of rice under PMGKAY for the month of July with 1,355.65 quintal and 1,495.15 quintal being lifted on July 31 and August 1 respectively.
In Thoubal District, Lilong AC reported lifting of 2,015.40 quintal of PMGKAY rice allocated for the current month on July 31 while the same quantity had been distributed to the beneficiaries of the AC on August 1 last.
It may be mentioned that the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution on July 31 announced the expansion of the One Nation One Rationcard scheme to four states – Manipur, Nagaland, Uttarakhand and the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan, in his tweeter handle had said, “The coverage of the ambitious One Nation One Rationcard scheme has been expanded from today to four states – Manipur, Nagaland, Jmmu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand.”
