Guwahati-based senior journalist Prakash Jha has passed away.
He was 64 at the time of his demise.

Jha died on Saturday night at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
Jha, who was born in Bihar, started his career in the media in Patna with an English daily, โIndian Nationโ.
He then worked for Hindi daily โSanmargโ in Kolkata.

Jha later shifted to Guwahati and joined Hindi daily โUttarkalโ.
After โUttarkalโ, Jha joined Hindi daily โPurvanchal Prahariโ, published by GL Publications from where retired.
After his retirement, Jha joined another Guwahati-based Hindi daily, โDainik Purvodayโ
Jha is survived by his wife and three daughters.
According to sources, the mortal remains of Jha will be cremated in Bhootnath cremation ground on Monday.
Guwahati Press Club (GPC) has expressed its deep condolence at the demise of Prakash Jha.
In a condolence message, GPC president Manoj Kumar Nath and secretary Sanjoy Ray said: โLet the contributions, made by Prakash Jha to the field of journalism, be source of inspiration for the new generations.โ
They also conveyed deep sympathy towards the bereaved family members of late Jha.
The Journalistsโ Forum Assam (JFA) has also expressed grief at the demise of the senior journalist.
