Assam’s Chirang district reported a total of 29 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of positive cases in the district to 233, the district Health department informed on Thursday.

The district has now 68 active positive cases while the number of recoveries in the district is 165.

Among these 29 fresh positive cases, 28 were found positive from Bijni civil sub-division, which include three from Bijni Bandhan Bank, six from Alukhunda, one from 108 staff under Betagaon CHC, 18 from Bijni Town.

While only one positive case was recorded at Sidli PHC under Kajalgaon sadar sub-division on the day.

All were shifted to Subhaijhar Model Hospital, which has started functioning as designated COVID-19 care centre from Thursday.
