Three persons, including Manipur health minister L Jayentakumar’s cousin, tested COVID-19 positive on Sunday.
They are the residents of Pishumthong area in Manipur’s Imphal West district.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Jayentakumar wrote, “During this crucial fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, one of my cousins have been tested COVID positive. As a precautionary measure, I called and gathered all my immediate office staffs, family members and everyone related for an immediate COVID test.”
“I and all of my staffs are found to be COVID Negative. However, unfortunately, all family members, except two, are tested negative. Both reside at my Pishumthong residence,” he added.
Following the results, all the precautionary measures as per the protocols mentioned in the state SOP (standard operating procedure) have been followed and the patients have been shifted to the COVID Care Center.
Meanwhile, a section of Pishumthong area has been identified as a containment zone as per the guidelines.
Stating that the COVID-19 Virus is invisible, contagious and unpredictable, the minister said, “We don’t know who will be the next target.”
“The only available vaccine right now is “precautions”. Therefore, we, as an individual and the people of the state, need to follow and abide by the SOPs and the guidelines provided by the Health Department. There is nothing to be panic or anxious.
Expressing that with the full cooperation, understanding and coordination, we can unitedly fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the minister also urged to stay home, wear a mask, maintain physical distance.
Earlier in the day, the durbar hall of the Chief Minister’s secretariat in Imphal has been declared as containment zone after one staff of the health department stationed at Common Covid control room, CM’s secretariat tested COVID 19 positive.
Considering the situation, the state authority has also tightened the complete lockdown by imposing the necessary guidelines and restrictions
