Devasmita Dey Chowdhury, a girl from Shillong who is presently staying with her family in Bengaluru (Karnataka) has recently launched her first book, an online edition, The Cost of Sunshine: Three Women of Three Generations and the Man in Their Lives.

“This particular book is about three women and their lives. The emotions are very real even as I have attempted to wave the words in a lyrical rhythm that might give a reading pleasure to the readers,” said Devasmita while speaking to Northeast Now.

“Balarani Mitra is trying to save her ancestral house from her son. Anjali finds herself in the same rotten island of marriage that’s making her world stink,” she added.

And Manu finds love only to lose it to destiny. And yet they survive. Like all of us do…an acknowledgement to the concept of realization. A tribute to many suns and their myriad sunshine,” she added.

The online edition of the book is available on Amazon.

Chowdhury who did her graduation from St Anthony’s College in Shillong said that she is also coming up with a book of short stories very soon.

“At present when people feel hesitant to go to the book store due to the Corona threat, I will be coming with all my books online,” she said.

An NLP trainer and a behavioural coach, Chowdhury said, “These days one does not need an added thrust of inspiration. Life is happening around us in all its colours. I just wanted to capture a few colours.”
