A highly qualified girl from North Assamโ€™s Gogamukh was denied registration in a website run by state-owned National Seed Corporation Limited (NSCL) due to her surnameโ€”Chutia.

Priyanka Chutia, who has completed her Masters in Agriculture Economics and Farm Management, when tried to make an online application for a job at NSCL, she failed to complete the registration process because of her surname.

The website given for online registration did not accept her surname.

โ€œโ€ฆthe reason is nothing but my surname and the portal keeps on saying to use โ€˜proper namingโ€™ words. I feel really sad and frustrated at times explaining people that I am not using slang but it is a community where I belong to,โ€ Priyanka said in a Facebook post.

She reportedly mailed to NSCL about the issue but so far has not got any response from them.

NSCL, however, told The News Mill that it was a technical fault and has been rectified as soon as it came to their notice.
