A highly qualified girl from North Assam’s Gogamukh was denied registration in a website run by state-owned National Seed Corporation Limited (NSCL) due to her surname—Chutia.
Priyanka Chutia, who has completed her Masters in Agriculture Economics and Farm Management, when tried to make an online application for a job at NSCL, she failed to complete the registration process because of her surname.

The website given for online registration did not accept her surname.
“…the reason is nothing but my surname and the portal keeps on saying to use ‘proper naming’ words. I feel really sad and frustrated at times explaining people that I am not using slang but it is a community where I belong to,” Priyanka said in a Facebook post.
She reportedly mailed to NSCL about the issue but so far has not got any response from them.

NSCL, however, told The News Mill that it was a technical fault and has been rectified as soon as it came to their notice.
