The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) was founded as per the Meghalaya Board of School Education Act, 1973. Initially it was set up to conduct the SSLC Exam. After Pre-University level examination was discontinued by the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in 1996, MBOSE conducts HSSLC examinations.
Now, MBOSE conducts the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations in Meghalaya.
