Assam reported two more Covid-19 fatalities on Saturday, taking the death toll due to the disease to 53 in the state, health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
A 62-year-old man died at the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) while undergoing treatment for the coronavirus, he added.

Sushil Shyamal, a resident of Gar Ali, succumbed to the disease at Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH).
Shyamal was admitted to JMCH on Saturday morning with respiratory distress and passed away at about 11.30 am.
Another 61-year-old man succumbed to the disease in Guwahati. He has been identified as Binandi Ram Kalita.
A total of 1,060 patients were cured of the disease and discharged from hospitals on Saturday, Sarma said.
Of the 21,864 Covid-19 cases reported in the state so far, 15,165 have recovered from the disease.
